Will we go on a trip to the indian food shop before the class?
Yes, we will go to the Indian shop to learn about how to choose the ingredients we will use in the class.
I haven't received the recipes for an Online class I booked for?
We will send out the recipes 1-2 weeks before the event or as soon as you book if this date is nearer the event. THESE WILL BE SENT TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS PROVIDED ON YOUR BOOKING FORM. If this is a gift and you want us to send class details to another email address, please let us have this as soon as possible after your booking. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM/JUNK FOLDER FOR EMAILS and if you have not received our email a week before the event, please do get in touch at monisha@cookingwithmonisha.com
Do I need to bring anything to the classes?
No, we provide everything including ingredients, recipes and equipment.
What should I wear to the classes?
Please wear comfortable clothes with short sleeves or sleeves that can be rolled up, and closed flat shoes that you can stand in for lengths of time.
Do you do private classes or walks?
Cooking With Monisha can tailor a private class or food walk to suit your needs. We run 2 hour Spice Walks of Southall for private groups of 10-25 people. Please email us for details. Bespoke classes are for individuals, couples or groups.
How many students are there in a class?
The maximum number of students in a class is can be 10.
Will I get to cook or is it demonstration only?
You will be doing a mixture of ‘hands on’ work, cooking in pairs and learning from chef demonstrations to ensure that you maximise your time with us and leave equipped with the knowledge to re-create the dishes again at home.
Are the courses suitable for beginners?
Each course is designed for a variety of abilities. The classes are very informal and easy so definitely for beginners as well!
CANCELLATION POLICY What if I cannot make it to a class?
Cancellation policy If you cancel your place at a class you’ve booked or wish to move your booking over 2 weeks before the start of the course (both private or group), you can choose an alternative date or course of an equivalent value. If you cancel or wish to move your booking within 2 weeks of the course, no transfers are permitted and you will forfeit your place. Please email us or phone (contact number will be on your ticket) as soon as possible to let us know of a cancellation. Cancellation via social media will not be accepted.
What if a class is cancelled by the school?
In the unfortunate event of us needing to cancel or postpone a class, we will give you as much notice as we possibly can and give you the option to tranfer your booking to a new date. If, for some reason you cannot make another date, we can offer you a full, immediate refund.
How long are the gift vouchers valid for?
The gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
Is my booking transferrable?
No, as we take into account food intolerances and allergies of individuals.
Is there a minimum age?
Scheduled classes are for participants aged 16 and over, but people under 18 need to be accompanied by a paying adult. We also do bespoke classes for children.
Do I need to wear a face mask?
We are asking all attendees to wear face masks during a class. This policy is in place to keep us all safe and allow us to share the experience of cooking together safely and comfortably.

Chef Monisha Bharadwaj is an award winning author, food historian and a food writer based in London, UK. She was awarded ‘Cookery Writer of the Year’ in 2003 by the Guild of Food Writers and her many books have been shortlisted for and won several prestigious international awards.
